FAA Investigates Near-Miss Incident Involving President Trump's Helicopter and Envoy Air Flight
On August 4, 2026, a near-miss incident occurred involving Marine One, the presidential helicopter carrying President Trump, and a commercial airliner operated by Envoy Air, a subsidiary of American Airlines. The incident took place near Washington, D.C., when the two aircraft came within approximately 1.3 kilometers horizontally and 213 meters vertically of each other. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has launched an investigation into the event, which is classified as a 'loss of separation.' Despite the close proximity, the FAA confirmed that President Trump was never in any danger. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is also involved in investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
