He argued that these measures are necessary to manage the federal debt, which he noted has surpassed $40 trillion. In response to Democratic criticism, Johnson accused them of fearmongering and highlighted a report from GOP oversight that pointed to significant financial mismanagement in Minnesota under Governor Tim Walz.
