North Georgia Dog Survives Impalement by Tree Branch, Highlights Pet Emergency Preparedness
In North Georgia, a family dog named Sweets, an 8-year-old Brittany spaniel, was impaled by a tree branch during a walk in the woods. Her owners, Aaron and DeAnna Comer, heard her scream and found her with a branch lodged in her abdomen. They rushed her to a veterinary hospital where she underwent a five-hour surgery. Remarkably, the branch missed major organs, and Sweets was able to return home the next day. This incident underscores the importance of having a pet emergency plan and knowing the location of the nearest emergency veterinarian.
