Heat Wave Scorches U.S. with Temperatures Reaching 49°C
A severe heat wave is gripping parts of the United States, with over 39 million people under heat alerts. The 'heat dome' that previously affected the central and eastern U.S. has shifted westward, intensifying temperatures across the South and Southwest. Extreme heat warnings are in effect for states like Arizona, California, Nevada, and Utah, with temperatures expected to reach between 43°C and 49°C (110°F to 120°F). Heat index values, which account for humidity, could make conditions feel even hotter, particularly in southern Arizona and South Texas. The National Weather Service has issued advisories for prolonged exposure risks.
