The incident occurred on a Tuesday, with Wuhan police receiving multiple reports of the autonomous vehicles being immobilized on roads. The preliminary assessment by authorities suggests a system fault as the cause. Baidu, which operates the largest robotaxi service in China, did not provide a comment on the situation. Passengers were eventually able to exit the vehicles safely, and no injuries were reported. However, one passenger, identified only as Luka, was trapped for nearly two hours before being assisted by police.
