Yang Zhilin's Kimi K3 AI Model Captures Silicon Valley's Attention
Yang Zhilin, a 34-year-old researcher and entrepreneur, has developed the Kimi K3 AI model through his company, Moonshot AI. This new open-weight AI model has gained significant attention in Silicon Valley due to its advanced coding and agentic capabilities, which rival those of leading American models from companies like OpenAI and Anthropic. The Kimi K3 model is noted for its cost-effectiveness, marking a significant milestone for China in the global AI race. Yang, who studied at Carnegie Mellon University, has previously worked on major AI projects in China and co-founded Recurrent AI. His work emphasizes scaling over new algorithms, a principle that has guided the development of Moonshot AI's technologies.
