Recent Rainfall Improves Water Scarcity Conditions Across Scotland, SEPA Reports
Recent rainfall has led to a significant improvement in water scarcity conditions across Scotland, according to the latest Water Scarcity Report from the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA). The report indicates that no areas are currently at 'Significant Scarcity,' a reduction from seven areas in the previous report. Several regions, including Stonehaven, North Esk, Tay Estuary (North), North Fife, Fife (East Neuk), Whiteadder Water, and Berwickshire coastal, have recovered from 'Significant Scarcity' in the past week. The number of areas at 'Moderate Scarcity' has also decreased from five to two, with only the Tyne (Lothian) and Tweed catchments remaining at this level. Other areas like Esk (Angus), Firth of Tay, and Firth of Forth have moved to 'Alert,' while Deveron and Ythan are now at 'Early Warning,' and Cree and Spey have returned to 'Normal Conditions.'
