Consumer Reports Identifies Contaminants in Hair Dye Products, Raising Safety Concerns
Consumer Reports has conducted an analysis of 21 hair dye products, revealing that all tested items contained some level of contaminants. The study examined permanent, semi-permanent, and hair chalks from major brands, identifying the presence of volatile organic compounds, phthalates, and heavy metals. These findings raise concerns about the potential health risks associated with long-term exposure to these chemicals, which can include hormone disruption and an increased risk of certain cancers. Despite industry assurances of safety, the report suggests that consumers may not be fully aware of the risks involved.
