China Mobile Launches SEA-H2X Submarine Cable to Enhance Intra-Asia Connectivity
China Mobile has announced the commercial operation of the Southeast Asia-Hainan-Hong Kong (SEA-H2X) submarine cable system, a 5,746-kilometer network connecting Hong Kong and Singapore with links to Hainan, China, Songkhla, Thailand, and La Union, Philippines. This development follows a two-year delay due to adverse weather and permit issues. The SEA-H2X system, featuring eight fiber pairs with a capacity exceeding 200 Tbit/s, aims to improve communication infrastructure in Greater China and the Asia-Pacific region. Additionally, the Sihanoukville-Hong Kong (SHV-HK) cable, Cambodia's first state-owned submarine optical fiber system, has reached Hong Kong, enhancing Cambodia's digital connectivity.
