Christopher Anne Affleck, the mother of actors Ben and Casey Affleck, passed away in June at the age of 83 after battling a terminal illness. Affleck was a dedicated civil rights organizer and teacher, known for her involvement in the 1964 Freedom Summer initiative, where she taught literacy classes to raise awareness about violence against the Black community and promote voter registration. Her family highlighted her lifelong commitment to social justice, including her participation in anti-Vietnam War protests and her work with the Alliance for Water Justice in Palestine. Affleck's legacy is marked by her revolutionary spirit and dedication to equality, which she instilled in her students during her 35-year teaching career in Massachusetts.
