Dan Green Wins Republican Primary for U.S. House District 9, Will Challenge Incumbent Darren Soto
Dan Green of Vero Beach has won the Republican primary election for U.S. House of Representatives District 9, according to final but unofficial results. Green secured 25.39% of the votes, narrowly defeating Ben Butler, who received 24.38%. Other candidates in the primary included Thomas Chalifoux Jr., Jorge Martinez, Justin Story, Marcus Carter, and Steve Rance. With this victory, Green will advance to the November 3 general election to challenge the incumbent Democrat, U.S. Representative Darren Soto of Kissimmee. Soto, who was first elected to the two-year seat in 2017, was unopposed in his primary. The newly redrawn District 9 now encompasses Indian River County, stretching from Orlando southwest to Yeehaw Junction, and includes parts of Kissimmee and St. Cloud, making it one of Florida's largest districts by area, covering seven counties.
