Hawaii Doctor Denies Attempted Murder of Wife on Hiking Trail, Claims Self-Defense
Dr. Gerhardt Konig, a Hawaii-based anesthesiologist, is on trial for allegedly attempting to murder his wife, Arielle Konig, during a hike on the Pali Puka Trail in Oahu. The incident occurred on March 24, 2025, when the couple was reportedly working on their marriage after Dr. Konig discovered 'flirty' messages between his wife and a colleague. Arielle Konig testified that her husband pushed her towards a cliff, attempted to inject her with a syringe, and beat her with a rock. Dr. Konig, however, testified that he acted in self-defense after his wife pushed him first, leading to a struggle where he claims she initially attacked him with a rock. He denies having a syringe or any intention to harm her. The trial continues with Dr. Konig's cross-examination by prosecutors.
