IAEA and Inter-American Development Bank Expand Cooperation on Nuclear Energy in Latin America and the Caribbean
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) have signed a new memorandum of understanding (MOU) to broaden their collaboration on nuclear energy projects in Latin America and the Caribbean. This agreement establishes a framework for dialogue, knowledge sharing, technical assistance, capacity building, energy-system planning, and infrastructure improvement. The expanded cooperation will cover both traditional large-scale reactors and small modular reactors, addressing the technical, institutional, and economic aspects of nuclear technologies. The MOU also extends to non-energy related areas, including access to health services, agricultural productivity, sustainable agricultural practices, and soil, nutrient, and water management.
