Laguna Beach City Council Approves New Ambulance and Rate Hike to Offset Costs
Laguna Beach City Council has approved the addition of a new ambulance to its fleet and an increase in transport rates for its in-house ambulance program. The decision, made during a recent council meeting, aims to address rising operational costs, including fuel, medical supplies, and equipment maintenance. The basic life support fee will increase to $3,088.40, while the advanced life support fee will rise to $3,529.60. The city anticipates recouping approximately $92,000 in additional reimbursements. The new ambulance, costing $315,000, will be financed over seven years, with the first-year payment of $55,000 coming from the vehicle replacement fund. The city launched its ambulance program in July 2022, and since then, it has transported nearly 5,000 patients.
