President Zelenskyy Asserts Russia's Battlefield Losses Open Diplomatic Opportunities
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that Russia began losing its battlefield initiative in December 2025, creating a potential window for diplomatic negotiations. In an interview, Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine and its allies should maintain strong sanctions on Moscow while exploring diplomatic solutions before the next winter. He noted that Russia's monthly losses are increasing, and they can no longer capture more territory than Ukraine can reclaim. Zelenskyy also highlighted the importance of internal pressure on Russian President Putin and continued sanctions from Western partners to facilitate negotiations. He suggested that the E3 format, involving the United Kingdom, France, and Germany, along with Nordic countries and Türkiye, could play a role in representing Europe in potential talks.
