Miami-Dade Initiatives Address Childcare Costs to Support Workforce Participation

This issue, known as the benefits cliff, occurs when rising wages disqualify families from receiving childcare assistance, leaving them financially strained. A study by the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta highlights that childcare affordability is a persistent barrier for many households, particularly affecting sectors like hospitality, service, and health support. In response, local organizations such as The Children’s Trust of Miami-Dade, the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, and the Miami-Dade Beacon Council are working to address these challenges.
