Anna Maria College Announces Closure Due to Financial Struggles
Anna Maria College, a private Catholic institution in Paxton, Massachusetts, has announced its impending closure following the spring semester of 2026. The decision comes after years of financial pressure that the college could not overcome. The Massachusetts Department of Higher Education had previously issued a notice indicating that the college might not have sufficient resources to continue operations into the next academic year. Despite efforts to find a solution, including a recent anonymous $5 million donation and some positive enrollment indicators for Fall 2026, the college determined that continuing operations would not be responsible. The closure affects approximately 1,400 undergraduate students.
