Evansville Police Arrest Marijuana Dealer with Illegal Firearms After Shots Fired Report
Evansville, Indiana, police arrested John Murray, 30, on Saturday night following a report of shots fired and a domestic disturbance. Officers were dispatched to a home on Washington Avenue near South Garvin Street after a 911 caller reported hearing a man and woman screaming, followed by what sounded like a gunshot. Upon arrival, Murray came to the door and became agitated when officers attempted to pat him down. After detaining Murray, police entered the home to ensure the safety of a woman and two children Murray stated were inside. Officers observed a pistol in plain sight. A criminal history check revealed Murray had a prior conviction for domestic battery, making his possession of a firearm illegal. A subsequent search warrant led to the discovery of another gun and approximately 211 grams of marijuana in a toilet water tank, along with 56 baggies, three packages of 'cannabis products,' and a scale in a kitchen drawer.
