YouTuber Ruhi Çenet Criticized for Attending Wedding Amid Hantavirus Outbreak
Ruhi Çenet, a popular Turkish YouTuber, is facing criticism after attending a wedding in Istanbul amid a hantavirus outbreak linked to a cruise he was on. Çenet was among 147 passengers and staff aboard the MV Hondius cruise, which is under investigation by the World Health Organization (WHO) for a suspected hantavirus outbreak. The outbreak reportedly began in April when the ship embarked on an expedition from Ushuaia, Argentina, to Spain's Canary Islands. During the trip, three passengers died, possibly from hantavirus, a disease typically spread through contact with rodents. Çenet attended the wedding on May 3, the same day the WHO announced the outbreak, leading to backlash after a photo of him at the event surfaced online. Çenet later stated on Instagram that he attended the wedding before being aware of the WHO's announcement.
