Southern California is set to experience a shift in weather patterns starting with drizzle on Monday and Tuesday, followed by a significant heat wave over the Mother's Day weekend. According to the National Weather Service in Oxnard, light rain is expected in areas such as the eastern San Gabriel Mountains and the Central Coast, with rainfall totals remaining under a quarter of an inch. Some regions, like Oceanside, may receive up to one-third of an inch. Temperatures will initially be cooler than average, with highs in the 60s°F (15-20°C) across various locations, including downtown Los Angeles and Burbank. However, by the weekend, temperatures are expected to rise dramatically, potentially reaching 90°F (32°C) in downtown Los Angeles on Sunday.
