New York State Launches Speeding Crackdown to Enhance Road Safety
New York State is initiating a statewide speeding crackdown starting Monday, as part of a campaign led by Governor Hochul's Traffic Safety Committee. This initiative, known as 'Speed Week 2', aims to reduce speeding and prevent traffic accidents caused by excessive speed. The campaign follows a similar effort in June, during which law enforcement issued over 56,000 tickets, including 14,005 for speeding. The crackdown will see increased patrols and enforcement across the state, particularly in Nassau and Suffolk counties, which recorded the highest number of tickets during the previous campaign. The initiative is part of a broader effort to address traffic safety concerns, as speeding remains a significant factor in traffic fatalities.
