Stolen Kneecap Returned to Glastonbury Abbey After 70 Years
A kneecap belonging to an Abbot from a medieval British abbey has been returned to Glastonbury Abbey, 70 years after it was taken by George Box, who was 11 years old at the time. Box took the bone during a school trip in 1956 and kept it in a glass cabinet in Australia, where he later moved. After his death, his widow decided to return the kneecap to its original resting place. The bone is now on display at the abbey's museum, alongside other artifacts. The abbey expressed gratitude for the return of the kneecap, which could belong to one of three abbots buried in the 13th century.
