She is currently the inaugural Director of the Center for Law and Public Trust and a Distinguished Scholar in Residence at NYU School of Law, where she works on reimagining and rebuilding American democratic institutions. National Geographic is set to release a three-part documentary series titled "Chilean Mine Rescue: Race Against Time," revisiting the 2010 San José copper-gold mine disaster. On August 5, 2010, 33 miners became trapped nearly half a mile underground in Chile. They were presumed dead for 17 days until a drill reached their emergency shelter, confirming their survival. The subsequent 52-day multinational rescue effort captivated a global audience, with an estimated one billion people watching as the miners were brought to the surface. The series, produced by Emmy Award-winning Blast Films, will feature never-before-seen cell phone footage recorded by the trapped miners, as well as interviews with survivors, their families, and rescuers.
