India Launches SEHAT Program to Integrate Agriculture and Public Health
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) have launched the SEHAT initiative, aimed at integrating agriculture, nutrition, and public health. This program seeks to align agricultural production with nutritional needs to improve health outcomes. Union Health Minister J P Nadda emphasized the shift towards a preventive healthcare model and the importance of diet in addressing malnutrition and non-communicable diseases. The initiative aims to promote organic and sustainable agricultural practices, contributing to a broader 'One Health' vision that links human, animal, and environmental health.
