Man Arrested in Kingwood After SWAT Standoff on Felony Warrant
A 38-year-old man was taken into custody in Kingwood, Texas, following a SWAT standoff on Thursday morning. The incident occurred on Garden Lake Drive, prompting a significant law enforcement presence, including SWAT teams, heavy-duty vehicles, robots, and a drone. The man was wanted by the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Fugitive Task Force on a felony warrant. Authorities stated that the man refused to exit the residence, leading to the standoff. The homeowner, Russ Gundrum, who has lived in the house for nearly 40 years, reported being unaware that the suspect was inside his home until the operation began. Gundrum described being woken by bright lights and witnessing several windows being broken during the operation. His wife, who has serious health problems, remained inside the home and was later transported to a hospital. A nearby school, Bear Branch Elementary, was placed on 'Secure the Perimeter' due as a precautionary measure due to the police activity.
