Blue Angels Cancel Seafair Air Show Performance Due to Wind Conditions, Affecting Seattle Event
The U.S. Navy Blue Angels were scheduled to perform at Seattle's Seafair event but had to cancel their air show due to adverse wind conditions. According to Seafair President & CEO Emily Cantrell, the decision was made after monitoring wind patterns throughout the day, which showed an increase in the afternoon. Although five other air show acts performed earlier, the wind conditions exceeded the safety thresholds set by the Blue Angels. The cancellation was announced to ensure the safety of both the performers and the audience. Despite the cancellation, Seafair continued with other scheduled activities, including racing and festival events at Genesee Park. The Museum of Flight offered rain checks to guests for the next day's show. Seafair, now in its 77th year, is a major event in Seattle, drawing approximately 180,000 visitors over the weekend.
