Man Charged After Shooting Three People in Passing Vehicles in Northeast Houston
Demetri O'Neal Thomas, 45, has been charged with four counts of aggravated assault against a public servant and three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following an incident in northeast Houston. On a Friday around 11 a.m., near North Wayside Drive and St. Louis Street, Houston police received calls about a man firing a rifle at vehicles. Three individuals in passing vehicles were injured by the gunfire, with two transported to the hospital and all reported to be in stable condition. HPD officers and a DPS trooper arrived on the scene, where bystanders directed them to Thomas, who was armed with a rifle on the front porch of a nearby home. When Thomas allegedly refused commands to drop his weapon and raised it, three HPD officers and a trooper fired their weapons, striking him.
