Patrick Svitek Joins CNN as Reporter to Cover 2026 Midterms and 2028 Presidential Race
CNN has announced the addition of veteran political reporter Patrick Svitek to its Washington, DC bureau. Svitek will focus on covering the 2026 midterm elections, major political trends, and the early stages of the 2028 presidential contest. Prior to joining CNN, Svitek was part of The Washington Post's politics team, where he covered the 2024 presidential election and the transition to President Trump's second term. His career also includes nearly a decade of reporting on Texas politics, where he worked for the Houston Chronicle and the Texas Tribune, covering state legislature and statewide elections. Svitek is a graduate of Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism and resides in Washington, DC.
