Louvre Museum Reopens Apollo Gallery Following Heist, But Remains Empty
The Louvre Museum in Paris has reopened its Apollo Gallery, a Baroque masterpiece dating back to the 17th century, which was closed following a significant heist last year. The gallery, which inspired the Hall of Mirrors at Versailles, remains empty as several French crown jewels were stolen in the heist. The crown of Empress Eugénie, one of the stolen items, is currently being restored and will be displayed in a more secure space. The museum's new director, Christophe Leribault, has decided to store the remaining treasures in a high-security vault. The gallery itself, with its ornate design and historical significance, continues to attract visitors.
