A study conducted by researchers at the University of Pennsylvania has used AI to analyze over 400,000 Reddit posts, uncovering patient-reported side effects of GLP-1 drugs, such as semaglutide and tirzepatide, that are not fully documented in clinical trials. Published in Nature Health, the study highlights reproductive symptoms, including irregular menstrual cycles, and temperature-related complaints like chills and hot flashes. These findings suggest that social media platforms can provide valuable insights into drug side effects that may not be captured in traditional clinical settings.
