U.S. Congressional Delegation Engages with Rwanda on Bilateral Cooperation in Health, Energy, and Investment
A U.S. congressional delegation, including Representative Cliff Bentz, recently met with Rwandan President Paul Kagame to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation. The discussions, held at Village Urugwiro, focused on Rwanda's development journey and potential areas for strengthening ties, particularly in healthcare, energy, and investment. The delegation, led by Representative Brett Guthrie, Chair of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, included other members such as Troy Carter, Morgan Griffith, Russ Fulcher, Jay Obernolte, Craig Goldman, and Julie Fedorchak. The United States is a key partner for Rwanda, with existing collaborations in sectors like health, education, and trade. Notably, Rwanda signed an agreement with the U.S. in May 2026 to advance nuclear energy use, and Holtec International is set to support Rwanda in acquiring Small Modular Reactors.
