Orange County United Way Highlights Financial Insecurity at Women's Philanthropy Fund Breakfast
The Orange County United Way hosted its annual Women's Philanthropy Fund Breakfast at the Hyatt Regency Irvine, focusing on financial insecurity and the challenges faced by those living paycheck-to-paycheck. The event featured Stephanie Land, author of 'Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother’s Will to Survive,' who shared her personal experiences of overcoming poverty and domestic violence. Attendees participated in a 'Paycheck to Paycheck Experience,' simulating the difficult financial decisions faced by struggling families. The exercise highlighted the precarious nature of financial stability and the impact of federal social safety net cuts on low-income individuals.
