Delaware County Intermediate Unit Celebrates Major Expansion and Renovation of Marple Education Center
The Delaware County Intermediate Unit (DCIU) recently celebrated the significant expansion and renovation of its Marple Education Center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and tours of the newly enhanced facilities. This project was initiated due to substantial growth in programs catering to young children, students with specialized needs, and aspiring healthcare professionals across the region. The expansion includes additional Early Intervention classrooms, therapy and evaluation spaces, vocational and transition learning areas, and improved accessibility and security. The DCIU's Preschool Early Intervention program has seen considerable growth, serving over 3,100 children annually by 2024-25, up from approximately 1,150 in 2000-01. The Practical Nursing Program also moved into a new, state-of-the-art facility in January 2026, designed to accommodate adult learners and the program's increasing demands, including two additional classrooms and another simulation lab.
