Joint Chiefs Chairman Visits Venezuela Post-Maduro, Emphasizes Stability and Security
General Dan Caine, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, has made his first official visit to Venezuela following the removal of Nicolás Maduro from power. This visit comes five months after a significant U.S. military operation, known as Operation Absolute Resolve, which led to the capture of Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores. During his visit, General Caine engaged in discussions with leaders of Venezuela's interim government and U.S. embassy officials, focusing on the importance of stability in Venezuela and security across the Western Hemisphere. The discussions also highlighted the U.S. military's commitment to President Trump's 'three-phase plan' aimed at preventing chaos, supporting economic recovery, and facilitating a transition to democracy. A significant aspect of this plan involves the restoration of Venezuela's oil industry, which had been previously described by President Trump as a 'total bust.'
