Space Force Awards $981 Million Contract for Orbital War Simulator Development
The Space Force has awarded a $981 million contract to 15 companies to develop training ranges for orbital warfare. This initiative aims to address the current shortage of space war simulators, which are crucial for training Space Force operators. The contract will involve the construction of satellites, sensors, and simulation systems to enable realistic training scenarios, including counterspace and missile warning operations. Currently, operators train on live constellations with limited ability to rehearse contested scenarios such as jamming or anti-satellite engagements. This contract is intended to close that gap and enhance the preparedness of Space Force personnel.
