Photographer Captures Endangered Local Newsrooms Across the U.S.
Ann Hermes, a Brooklyn-based photographer, is documenting the decline of local newsrooms across the United States. Her project involves photographing approximately 50 newsrooms, many in smaller towns and cities, to capture the essence of these spaces and the people who work in them. Hermes, who has a background in journalism, began this project to highlight the challenges faced by local newspapers as the industry struggles with financial difficulties and closures. Her work aims to preserve the memory of these newsrooms, some of which have already shut down, like the one in Alameda, California.
