NYU Langone Health Appoints William Gordon Frankle as New Chair of Psychiatry
NYU Langone Health has announced the appointment of William Gordon Frankle, MD, MBA, as the new chair of the Department of Psychiatry at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. Dr. Frankle, who previously served as vice chair of the department and chief of psychiatry service at NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn, will assume his new role in September. During his tenure in Brooklyn, Dr. Frankle significantly expanded care for patients with serious mental illness and substance use disorders, leading to substantial growth in clinical operations and patient satisfaction. He also launched a new psychiatry residency program focused on community psychiatry and developed innovative clinical programs, including the Enhanced Treatment and Recovery program, which received national recognition. This appointment follows Charles R. Marmar, MD, completing his 17-year tenure as chair, who will continue his research as director of the Center for Precision Psychiatry.
