Data Rescue Efforts Intensify Amid U.S. Government Dataset Deletions
A grassroots network known as the Data Rescue Project is working to save U.S. government datasets that are at risk of deletion under the Trump administration. The administration has been removing or altering data related to climate change, reproductive health, and other critical areas. Volunteers, including librarians and programmers, are archiving these datasets to ensure public access. The project has archived over 3,000 items, which are now available on a public repository hosted by the University of Michigan. The effort is driven by the belief that public data should remain accessible as a public good.
