Honolulu Begins Cleanup After Tropical Storm Lala Departs
Honolulu is in full recovery mode following the departure of Tropical Storm Lala. As of 10 a.m. on August 17, 2026, no weather watches, warnings, or advisories remain in effect for Oahu. However, storm-related hazards persist, including fallen trees, debris, localized flooding, and power outages. Approximately 62,351 customers remain without electricity, and cellular service disruptions are reported in parts of Oahu and the North Shore. City crews are actively clearing roads, assessing infrastructure damage, and addressing flooding impacts. Residents are urged to limit water usage to essential needs due to power outages affecting pumping operations. Emergency shelters have transitioned from schools to parks, with 54 individuals still utilizing these facilities. Public services, including transportation and waste collection, are gradually resuming normal operations.
