Governor Abbott Activates Emergency Resources as Severe Storms Threaten Texas
Governor Greg Abbott has activated state emergency resources in response to a severe storm system threatening Texas with hurricane-force winds, large hail, and potential tornadoes. The storm is expected to impact a wide area, including West, North, East, Central, and South-Central Texas, with wind gusts possibly exceeding 75 mph and hail larger than 2 inches in diameter. Heavy rainfall could lead to flash flooding, with some areas potentially receiving up to 6 inches of rain. In preparation, the governor has deployed search-and-rescue teams, swiftwater boat squads, helicopters, and other state assets to assist local officials. Residents are advised to monitor local forecasts and avoid driving through flooded roadways.
