The City of Apopka, Florida, is grappling with a significant funding deficiency for the widening of Kelly Park Road, a project aimed at alleviating traffic congestion due to ongoing development around the State Road 429 interchange. According to a May 6 Notice of Funding Deficiency sent by the city to the project's co-developers, the current committed funding and developer caps are insufficient to complete the contemplated improvements. The estimated remaining project cost is $23,326,100.89, excluding a 10% contingency. With $15 million in developer-cap funding deposited into escrow and $5,368,685.80 already spent, the city identified an estimated funding deficiency of $13,694,786.69.
