Union Pacific Train Boxcar Found with Six Dead Migrants in Texas, Originating from Long Beach
Authorities discovered the bodies of six migrants inside a Union Pacific train boxcar in Laredo, Texas. The train, which originated from Long Beach, California, is believed to have picked up the migrants in Del Rio, Texas. The victims, identified as individuals from Honduras and Mexico, are suspected to have died from heatstroke during the journey. The discovery was made by a Union Pacific employee, prompting an investigation led by Homeland Security Investigations, with assistance from the Laredo Police Department and Texas Rangers. Laredo Mayor Victor D. Treviño expressed the gravity of the situation, emphasizing the tragedy of the loss of life and the criminal nature of human smuggling.
