A large and dangerous tornado struck Dover, Delaware, on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at approximately 6:18 p.m. The National Weather Service confirmed the tornado over Dover Speedway, moving northeast at 30 mph. The storm caused widespread damage, including downed trees, power outages, and structural damage along Division Street, Lockerman Street, and North DuPont Highway. A state of emergency was declared by the Dover Police Department at 6:20 p.m. Emergency crews worked to clear debris and restore safety in the affected areas.
