India Inaugurates First SME-Led Semiconductor Facility, Boosting Domestic Manufacturing
India has inaugurated its first SME-led semiconductor chip manufacturing facility in Rajasthan, marking a significant advancement in the country's electronics manufacturing sector. The facility, operated by Sahasra Semiconductors Pvt Ltd, is located in the Electronics Manufacturing Cluster in Bhiwadi. The inauguration was conducted virtually by Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, alongside Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Union Minister Bhupender Yadav. This development is part of India's broader strategy to enhance its domestic semiconductor and electronics manufacturing capabilities. The facility, developed under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology's Scheme for Promotion of Manufacturing of Electronic Components and Semiconductors (SPECS), represents an investment of over Rs 150 crore.
