China Landslide Death Toll Rises to 51 as Search Operations Conclude
In southwestern China, the death toll from a recent landslide has increased to 51, with search operations on land concluding. The landslide, which occurred on July 17, buried over 10 residential buildings and a minibus in Pengshui County, near Chongqing. While 10 people remain missing, efforts continue in the Wujiang River, where dredging and search operations are ongoing. The disaster also resulted in injuries to 10 individuals, three of whom have been discharged from the hospital. More than 1,100 residents were evacuated from the affected area, and local authorities are working to restore traffic flow.
