IDF Refocuses on Iran's Nuclear Threat, Downplays Ballistic Missiles and Regime Change
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have shifted their strategic focus towards Iran's nuclear capabilities, particularly the threat posed by 60% enriched uranium, which could potentially be used to develop nuclear weapons. This shift comes in the wake of a series of military operations and ongoing tensions between Israel and Iran. The IDF has established a specialized air force unit, referred to as the 'Iran Command,' to address these concerns. While the IDF continues to monitor Iran's ballistic missile capabilities, which have been used against Israel multiple times since 2024, the emphasis has moved away from regime change and missile threats. The IDF acknowledges that some past military actions, such as attacks on Basij militias and checkpoints, may not have significantly altered the situation on the ground. Instead, the focus is now on preventing Iran from advancing its nuclear program.
