Mainstreaming Oncogenomics Model Proposed to Enhance Lynch Syndrome Identification
A new conceptual clinical service model, the Mainstreaming OncoGenomics Model (MOGO), has been developed to integrate genomic testing into oncology settings, specifically targeting Lynch syndrome and other hereditary cancers. This model, based on the Genomic Medicine Integrative Research framework, aims to streamline genetic testing processes and improve access to genetic counseling. The model identifies key organizational factors and interventions necessary for successful implementation, such as embedding genetic counselors and utilizing electronic medical records for genetic test ordering and results tracking. The model's development involved a systematic review and qualitative and quantitative studies, highlighting the need for improved genetic test access and streamlined care processes.
