FBI Warns of Persistent Iranian Threat to U.S. Targets Amid White House Downplay
The FBI and other federal intelligence agencies have issued a report warning of a persistent threat from the Iranian government to U.S. military and government personnel, Jewish and Israeli institutions, and Iranian dissidents within the United States. Despite these warnings, the FBI and National Counterterrorism Center have not identified broad threats to the general American public. The report highlights various methods used by Iranian security services, including attempts to kidnap and kill Americans through firearms, stabbings, vehicle rammings, bombings, poisoning, strangling, suffocation, and arson. The Iranian government has also been noted for monitoring social media, livestreams, and map applications to select targets and assess security measures, employing hacking tactics such as phishing emails. President Trump has publicly minimized the possibility of Iranian attacks on American soil, stating he is not worried about such threats.
