In Washington's 3rd Congressional District, a significant primary election is underway, featuring incumbent Democratic Representative Marie Gluesenkamp Perez. She is facing a challenge from Republican state Senator John Braun, along with seven other candidates. This race is part of Washington's nonpartisan 'top-two' primary system, where the top two candidates, regardless of party affiliation, will advance to the general election in November. Both Gluesenkamp Perez and Braun have organized election night watch parties, with Gluesenkamp Perez's supporters gathering in Vancouver and Braun's in Chehalis. The election is conducted entirely by mail, with ballots required to be postmarked or placed in an official drop box by 8 p.m. on election day.
