Severe storms to impact Gulf Coast and Southeast with damaging winds and hail
The Gulf Coast and Southeast regions are bracing for another round of severe weather on Monday, following a weekend of intense storms. According to NOAA's Storm Prediction Center (SPC), a Level 1 out of 5 risk for severe thunderstorms has been issued for areas stretching from the Carolina coast to Florida's Atlantic Coast. These storms are expected to develop late Monday morning and persist through the afternoon. Additionally, a second Level 1 threat has been identified along the Gulf Coast, spanning from Lake Charles, Louisiana, to the western edge of the Florida Panhandle. This area faces the greatest risk of flash flooding, particularly along the Interstate 10 corridor from New Orleans to Jacksonville, Florida. Damaging wind gusts and large hail are anticipated to be the primary hazards associated with these storms.
